Currently serving as the Project Flow Manager in APM Terminals Tangier I have been driving the Business Excellence and Continuous Improvement culture within the company for 12 years (In addition to 5 years in Operations). In total, I have 23 years’ experience summarized as follows:
- My maritime background & experience at sea: I have a Certificate of Master Mariner with 11 years’ experience in sailing onboard Chemical carriers, Refrigerated carriers, Bulk carriers & Roro Passenger Ships in which Safety & Security & training the ship’s crew were among my responsibilities. I am certified both as a Ship Security Officer (SSO) & as Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).
- My experience within APM Terminals Tangiers in Flow Management, Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement (11 years’ experience) driving the Continuous Improvement Culture within APM Terminals Tangiers by looking for & managing improvement initiatives (Functional & cross functional projects) including Safety ones across all Departments in line with the Vision & Mission of the Company & the Hoshin Kanri (Policy Deployment) for each year.
- My experience in Container Terminals Operations (Planning & Execution) (5 years’ experience) evolving from Senior Supervisor to Shift Executive Operations then to Planning Executive and finally to Assistant Planning Manager before taking on Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement responsibilities.
- My completed mission in implementing Transformation Strategy in Container Terminal of Salalah, Oman through use of one Way of Working (WoW) composed of 05 elements:
- Standard Work: Setting up Daily/Weekly/Monthly Meetings for follow up on performances (last 24 hours - Last Week – Last month) & the actions to get on track & discuss preparations needed for next periods (24 Hours, Next Week or Month). Provide Leaders Standard Work (LSW) training modules to leaders including Lean books reading (This is Lean – Managing to Learn – 04 Disciplines of Execution – Developing Lean Leaders at All levels – etc.);
- Performance Management: Creating KPI Trees from Wildly Important Goals (WIG) to Leading Measures to Actions) to be used in different meetings and defining Performance Management Boards through visualization with color coding (Visual Management System) for quick identification if we are winning or loosing ;
- Process Design & management: Standardizing processes for each Department/Area of work ;
- People & Skills: Establishing Skill Matrix per Position & follow up to define expertise & training needs within the teams ;
- Improvement Management: Put process in place for receiving, facilitating, coaching & delivering improvement initiatives (Kaizens, Kaikaku, Quick Wins, etc.)
- My experience with The Integrated Management System been Pilot for Operations Process, then Pilot for Promote Continuous Improvement Culture Process. I am also trained as Internal Auditor for ISO Standards 9001-14001 & 18001 replaced later by 45001 (By Eurosymbiose & Bureau Veritas) & lately as Internal Auditor for ISO 28001 (By Bureau Veritas).
