Role Purpose


The Wheat Trader (Feed & Milling Wheat) is responsible for managing and expanding wheat trading activities across origination, pricing, execution, and risk management.

The role focuses on optimizing trading margins, securing supply, and managing market exposure in a fast‑moving international commodities environment.

The position collaborates closely with commercial, logistics, execution, market analysis, and risk management teams while maintaining strong external market relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Market Execution

Execute physical trading of feed and milling wheat across international markets.

Engage in derivatives trading where applicable.

Conduct daily trading activities aligned with company strategy and client requirements.

Make prompt and informed decisions in a dynamic market environment.

Pricing, Spreads & Risk Management

Manage pricing structures, spreads, and exposure within approved risk limits.

Monitor futures markets (e.g., MATIF, CBOT) and implement hedging strategies.

Ensure compliance with internal risk controls and trading policies.

Market Analysis & Fundamentals

Track global wheat fundamentals such as crop conditions, supply/demand balances, export flows, and stock levels.

Analyze market drivers impacting prices and volatility.

Leverage market intelligence to support market positioning and strategy.

Stakeholder Coordination

Collaborate with sales, logistics, execution, and analysis teams to ensure seamless trade execution.

Align trading positions with physical execution and client commitments.

Participate in internal discussions on strategy and market outlook.

Counterparty & Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, brokers, and trading counterparties.

Represent the company professionally in all market engagements.

Strategy, Performance & Compliance

Contribute to discussions on market strategy and portfolio positioning.

Monitor trading performance and support periodic reviews.

Adhere to governance standards, internal guidelines, and risk frameworks.

Decision-Making Authority

Autonomous trading, hedging, and pricing decisions within approved limits.

Execution and market positioning decisions aligned with commercial strategy.

Financial Responsibility

Direct responsibility for trading P&L performance.

No fixed cost or budget management responsibilities beyond trading mandates.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Agribusiness, Engineering, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant discipline.

Required Experience

Minimum 5+ years of experience as a commodities trader, preferably in grains/wheat.

Proven experience in physical trading and hedging in international wheat markets.

Track record of managing P&L and risk exposure.

Preferred Experience

Strong exposure to both physical and derivative markets.

Experience with MATIF and CBOT futures.

Knowledge & Skills

Critical Knowledge Areas

Global wheat market fundamentals (feed & milling wheat).

Physical commodities trading, execution, and logistics.

Futures and derivatives (MATIF/CBOT).

Market risk and exposure management.

Required Skills

Trading & Commercial Acumen (High) – Margin optimization and effective market execution.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure in fast‑moving markets.

Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills.
